Tracy's Heart

by Vivian Cooper

Friday, June 10, 2005, was a sad day for CARA, for our first family member crossed Rescuer's Bridge. Tracy Jean Gross was known as an extremely active cat person prior to her struggle with cancer, which ultimately took her from this world after only 31 short years. It was because of Tracy that many sick and injured kittens recovered, grew strong, and found adoptive homes.

As a founding CARA member, Tracy worked in whatever capacity her health would allow. During her pregnancy with her son, Trey, she worked. During her fight against cancer, which she was diagnosed with shortly after Trey's birth, she worked.

Tracy's specialty was with sick and injured kitties, which she would lovingly nurse back to health, even adopting the "hard to place" kitties. She was a true caregiver with her heart entwined with cat fur! Though her body has left this world, her spirit and energy will remain within our active rescue work that finds stray, neglected, and abandoned animals forever homes.

Tracy Gross, survived by her husband Tony, her son Trey, her parents, sisters, brother, and grandmother, will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

In honor of Tracy's place in the CARA family, our Treasurer, Page Lacey, will maintain a special fund called "Tracy's Heart". All funds donated to "Tracy's Heart" will continue her work in the care and support of sick kittens and medically disabled adult cats.
