Tanya-Athene

Tanya was renamed to Athene by her adopter and we can't decide which we like better so we hyphenated it!

Tanya-Athene was adopted with her brother Troy (who is now Aries) when young kittens. Life was good until their adopters decided to add a new female kitten to the mix after a couple of years... and then a baby. Unfortunately the kitten bullied Tanya-Athene although she did OK with Troy-Aries. The baby's arrival meant the adopters had less time for smoothing over ruffled feathers or helping to ease the tension. Finally they concluded that Tanya-Athene would be happier as an only cat and asked CARA to help with rehoming her.

Tanya-Athene is a very loving girl who craves TONS of laptime and loves being touched. She's always waiting at the office door to greet her foster mom, and chirps her hellos. Her foster mom always has her on her lap when doing email and other work on the PC. Like many torti's she nips a little (without puncturing) when she gets overstimulated, but it's easy to read her signals and adjust the petting to prevent it. We wouldn't recommend putting her with young children since they won't be able to read her signals but older children should be OK. For the person who likes a lapcat she is 10 on a scale of 10. Her adopters said that she was partial to the husband but she's been so loving to her foster mom that it's hard to think she would love one person over another.

Please consider this pretty girl that has so much loving to give. She is now about 8 years old. She's been perfect with the litterbox in her foster home and is the picture of good health. She loves toys and easily entertains herself. She also LOVES high spots... her favorite is the top of the 5' computer cabinet in the office. A cat tree would be a great toy for her as well as a scratching post. She lets her nails be clipped with little resistance, and she goes into the cat carrier without struggling. Her foster mom leaves the carrier out between shows and she sleeps in it, so it is not something that pains or threatens her. She is easy to pick up and put in the carrier and it will be easy to get to her annual vet visits. Cat-experienced people know THAT's a plus!
