Sasha

Get dat bird!

Talk about being reborn! Sasha is a military give up and had been an only cat for about 5 years. She was so shy that she constantly hid and had to be fed inside her hiding place. She could not tolerate any other cat although declawing limited her ability to inflict damage. Her former person said she thought that Sasha was not comfortable around men and it is certain that she will always be thought of as a shy cat when strangers come to visit.

BUT... her foster "mom" says: "Slowly Sasha gained trust, and came the day when I could leave the door open to her area. Then came the day when she graduated to the common area where she is today. She still does not enjoy other cats, but she eats, sleeps and lives in the midst of all my other fosters."

More recently, Sasha's foster mom adds: "Wow, has she ever bloomed. Although she does not snuggle up with the other cats she prefers to be among them. She and another take turns stretching out on a heated bed and I have found her in the window squirrel and bird watching. She comes when I call her, and when I sit down she comes to be petted. She weaves in and out among the other cats with none of the previous fear."

"She loves to stretch out and be petted and brushed and has a lovely purr. I still think she would be happy as an only cat but would probably tolerate one other. I also think she will still absent herself when strangers arrive, but to her care giver she will be completely loyal. I also discovered she likes to play and 'da bird' type toys get her immediate attention. To some the fact that she is declawed is another plus."
