Postal

Adopted!

Employees at the Riverdale Post Office were alarmed to hear pathetic crying coming from the generator room one day. When they investigated, it turned out to be a tiny kitten who was probably crying for his mother. Unfortunately, his mother was nowhere to be found, and the kitten was too scared to allow his would-be rescuers to get near him. The PO employees were worried that the kitten would get caught in the machinery, and they tried everything they could think of to catch him, but he evaded them for four days.

Finally one of the letter carriers, Mary, set a trap and lured him with succulent food. Sure enough, he couldn't resist and he was finally captured. But when he found himself entrapped, not knowing that it was being done to save him, he went totally postal. And that's how he got his name.

Mary is a devoted animal lover who has rescued and found homes for many kittens abandoned on her route. She took Postal home with her to teach him to trust her and to look for a family to adopt him. Postal bonded very quickly with the dog and the other cats in the house. It took longer for him to become friendly with the people. He probably didn't have much experience with humans, and his first encounters with them were pretty frightening. But Mary's patience and kindness won him over. But with her long work hours and other animals to care for, Postal isn't getting as much one-on-one socializing as he needs. So he is still afraid of people walking or reaching toward him. But he loves to play, and once he is on your lap or in your arms, he wants nothing more than to cuddle and purr.

Postal is a strikingly handsome little boy. He is a silver and brown tabby with gorgeous markings and an adorable round face. He was probably born around New Year's day. We don't know how he ended up in a generator room at the Post Office, but we're glad he found friends there to help him out. He was very lucky to survive, and hopefully his luck will extend to finding a loving family to adopt him.
