Two year old Nino came to us from an eviction situation, with his
sister cat Pursia. After a quick visit to
a vet for vaccine updates and a clean bill of health, these kitties
entered a CARA foster home. Both kitties were very agitated by the
new smells, sights, and sounds of the other cats in the home.
Though they were quarantined for the first month to give them a
chance to adjust their new environment, Nino remained a grumpy cat.
When Pursia found her calling as a foster mama cat, Nino was still
alone in "his" room - then VOILA! a changed cat.
As it turned out, Nino really wanted to be an only cat. When Nino is by himself, he is the sweetest, most gentle boy an adopter could ever want! His vocalizations and growling disappeared, his hissing and cowing ceased. Nino was quickly moved to a new part of the house as a "test"... the basement. Nino remained a lover boy even within this new environment, and is even happier having the run of a full basement to enjoy, and he manages to investigate each corner and crevice, from floor to ceiling! When Nino is in his space and thinks he is the only cat, he will allow his foster mom to trim his nails, pick him up, clean his eyes (basement ceilings can be dusty!), and love, love, love him! He purrs, head butts, and is content as can be. He even plays with his toy, which his former owner sent with him - a stuffed tiger named "Friend". If another foster kitty slips into Nino's space, he begins his vocalizations and cowing as soon as the second cat is within sight, so we believe that he needs to be an only child! If you'd like to meet the Nino, please check our upcoming show schedule, and email us beforehand at cara_adopt@yahoo.com to make sure he will be at the store to meet you!
