Mary

Mary (R) cuddles up with Tommy (L) at an adoption show

When you first meet Mary, you may wonder why this pretty dilute torti gal is trembling. Well, she has cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), a neurological disorder. This was probably caused by exposure to feline distemper when she was a kitten. The virus affects the cerebellum, which is involved in fine motor control. Mary may be wobbly and uncoordinated but she manages just fine, thank you. In fact she tends to be stubbonly independent. Her tremors don't slow her down - she is just a regular kitty and has a normal life and life expectancy. More about CH in cats.
When Mary wants attention, she is very affectionate. But that's on her terms, of course. When she has had enough, she'll jump down from your lap and go on her way. She tolerates other cats but mostly stays to herself. She doesn't need medication but some safety measures, like cushions and rugs under windowsills, closed stairways, etc. are a good idea.

Mary is looking for that special home with someone who can appreciate her for herself. She would prefer a quiet home with no small children. She doesn't mind other kitties if they behave themselves around her.
