Hamlet
|
Ham, as he's lovingly called, was saved from a miserable life by
his very nice neighbors, only a few weeks after a new family moved
next door to them. Hamlet was chained in the backyard with no shelter,
so was sleeping in cold rain, hail and strong winds. On top of that,
he was not being fed and his water bowl was almost always tipped over,
empty. It was a lonely life for him, since he was always ignored,
even when the family was in the backyard. Luckily, the neighbors felt
sorry for Ham and brought food on a regular basis, filled his water
bowl and gave him as many hugs and kisses as they could. After only
a couple weeks of watching out for Hamlet, they decided they couldn't
stand it any longer and offered to "buy" him from the family for a
very small fee, even though they couldn't keep him for themselves.
It worked! Since then, Hamlet has been living with a different family
who wouldn't dream of letting him be hungry or thirsty. He has foster
brothers and sisters to play with, gets lots of hugs and kisses from
his foster mom and dad and goes to sleep in a soft, warm bed every night.
| Hamlet is a truly wonderful dog, who gets along great with adults and other dogs! His favorite foster family member is a 12 lb miniature schnauzer, so we know he does great with small and big dogs alike. He has met a few children of various ages, and while he has behaved perfectly with them each time (even gave them kisses!), we have not been able to monitor him during prolonged interactions with children. He will need to go to a home without smaller, furry animals such as cats, ferrets, rabbits, chinchillas, etc. as he gets too excited when he sees or hears them. He has never demonstrated resource guarding and always allows his foster mom or dad to take his food or toys at any time without protest. Ham has done a great job sharing toys with his foster brothers and sisters as well and has never tried to steal anyone else's treats. Walking Hamlet is a great experience, as he is a perfect gentleman on the lead. He will need to remain in a securely fenced area or on lead anytime he is outside, as it is his nature to run. He is fully housetrained and should he need to go out before a scheduled potty break, he will pace and give a soft whimper to let you know. Hamlet is 3 years old and neutered. He is a lab/shepherd mix. His adoption fee is $175. If you are interested in Hamlet, please contact us to meet him or for more information. | |
