Opera is a young cat, about 2-1/2 years old, who showed up at a house where feral cats are being fed. She was completely tame and had obviously had a home at one time. But it seems that it wasn't a very good home: she had not been spayed and had been either dumped or allowed to wander away. Of course she was pregnant, even though she wasn't much more than a kitten herself. The woman who feeds the cats brought Opera to her vet hospital and asked for help. A cat as sweet and affectionate as Opera didn't belong outside scrounging for a living and contributing to the terrible overpopulation of cats. The vet hospital agreed to try to find Opera a home, so she is now boarding there, waiting to be adopted. Living in a cage isn't much fun, but hopefully it will won't be long before Opera finds a real home where she will get the kind of loving care she deserves. Opera is spayed and is negative for Feline Leukemia Virus and FIV. She is cute as a bug and is very affectionate and sociable and talkative. She has great big ears too, which makes us think she might be part Siamese. Whatever she is, she's a real sweetheart who would make a wonderful family member. If you would like to meet Opera and see for yourself what a great cat she is, please call Beltsville Veterinary Hospital at 301-937-3020 and ask to speak to Alana (leave a message if she isn't there). |
