Nuria (female) and Mayli (male), 12 years old, are litter mates who were rescued from the Washington Humane Society 12 years ago when I moved to DC. I've had them for their whole lives and while it is very sad for me to give them away, my life's calling is taking me to parts of the world (India) where these two babies can't go. They are neutered and spayed and in good health.

Mayli and Nuria are some of the best behaved kitties you'll ever come across (and the cutest). Other than an occasional hairball, they never get into trouble and are so well behaved (they actually listen like dogs!).

They would probably be better off being the only pets in a household, but will adapt to other pets if necessary. My wish and prayer is to find a caring home for the two of them as I feel losing me and each other all at once would be difficult for them. However, if I can find two caring homes that can only take one cat, I will consider splitting them up if that is the only way.

If they join households with pets, dogs will probably be better than more cats. They don't love dogs at first sight, but adjust after about a week or so (if the dog isn't too hyper). They lived with my mom's 2 dogs for 6 months and got along with them fine. The male (Mayli) will be ok with another female cat, and the female (Nuria) will be ok with another male cat if they must be split up. They have been challenged in the past by living with same sex cats (my roommate used to have cats too and we learned her boy didn't get along with my boy and her girl didn't get along with my girl).

If they join households with children, it will have to be children who are very gentle and careful with these two babies. They have never lived with children and tend to hide when I've had very hyperactive children over. They've been ok with calm children who know how to gently pet and touch them.

As litter mates, they have little spats (as siblings often do) but love each other and would be very sad if separated. They are well-trained at using scratch posts instead of furniture. They both allow their claws to be trimmed regularly (I'll show you how). They mostly enjoy laying around and watching birds out the windows, but also like to play.

Mayli is very easy going and attentive. He'll sit in the bathroom while you shower (and sometimes ask for a drink from the tub). He loves being with you. He enjoys sitting in the sun, drinking from his water fountain (he likes running water), and chasing balls. He'll sit on your lap if you put him there and he enjoys a lot of affection and petting. Mayli will spend most of the night sleeping at the foot of the bed (if you let him) and the rest of the time keeping an eyeful watch (he's the night watch kitty).

Nuria is a princess and comes across as shy at first, but her loyalty is unmatched once she gets to know you. She is an excellent bed buddy and loves to take naps with you too. She loves chasing strings and things that make noise (crumpled bits of paper are her favorite). She also has a thing for rubberbands and when she finds them on the floor, carries them to her foodbowl so you can put them in their proper place.

They are very sweet, loving kitties that will bless your home. Please contact Ren at (301) 518-6174 or email ren_resch@yahoo.com.
