Calvert and Rosalie are brother and sister, about 3½ years old. They were originally rescued in October 2005 when they were just kittens. They were found near the Riversdale Mansion in Riverdale, so the boy was named after George Calvert and the girl was named after his wife, Rosalie Stiers Calvert. From living a hard life outside, Rosalie had a serious eye injury. She was taken to a veterinary ophthalmologist to see if anything could be done to save her eye, but it was beyond repair. So to make her more comfortable, the eye was removed. She doesn't miss it at all; having a single eye just gives her an adorable rakish look (probably more rakish than the original Rosalie Calvert).

Rosalie and Calvert found a home together soon after they were rescued, but their adopter can no longer keep the cats, so they are up for adoption again. They are very sweet and very beautiful cats. They have three gorgeous green eyes (between the two of them), longish silky white hair, and nice fluffy plume-like tails. They are affectionate and sociable and outgoing, even with strangers. Being young cats, of course they love to play. They are used to other cats and they would probably do well with a gentle, cat-friendly dog.

Calvert and Rosalie are young, healthy cats. They are negative for Feline Leukemia Virus and FIV, up-to-date on vaccinations, and spayed/neutered. If you are interested in adopting either or both of them, please call Beltsville Veterinary Hospital at 301-937-3020 and ask for Alana (leave a message if she is not there).
