Shadow

Courtesy Posting (Not CARA)

Shadow is a handsome one and a half year old neutered male. He was given up by his family because they could not afford to take care of him. Shadow has recently been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This is a degenerative disease where the muscles of the heart begin to thicken and inhibits proper blood flow in and out of the heart. He has a grade three heart murmer and his condition is considered borderline severe. However, Shadow's cardiologist thinks that he can live several more good years with good care. Shadow is taking a medication called Atenolol that helps his heart condition. He takes it every morning in a treat. Shadow doesn't know he's sick - he eats, he plays, he loves, and he sleeps. It's a cat's life!

Shadow's plea is to find someone who is willing to take the time and energy - and provide the medical support - to care for him. He is very affectionate and loves to be around someone who will play with and pet him. He likes to be with other cats as long as they have nothing bad to say. If they do, he walks away.....what a good boy! Shadow's next appointment to the cardiologist is in November. This sweet boy deserves a second chance!

As Shadow's "foster mommy", I have grown attached to him. He is living in one of my spare bedrooms, better than the cage he had at the vet's office. But this charming boy deserves to find a good home with someone he can love and be loved by for the rest of his life, for however long that turns out to be.
